It’s that time of the year again, Pergola and Deck season! Here at county line lumber you can get everything you need to turn your yard into the outdoor living space you’ve dreamed about. We specialize in both pergolas and decks. Before you get started here are a few common questions that we get from our customers.

Which is better for a deck surface Composite or real wood?

Every situation is different but here are some questions to ask that can help you make that decision:

  1. Do you want to stain or paint your deck every season?

  2. What is the sun exposure on your deck? If its south west facing real wood or a light colored composite might work best.

Do deck composites still fade and stain?

The amount of direct sunlight will affect any product you use for decking. Most composites are capped now which has diminished the extreme fading and easy staining that occurred with the early generation composites.

Are there any new materials being used in deck construction?

County Line Lumber now stocks Superior KDAT a kiln dried, heat treated BARamine treated joist board that significantly reduces the crowning and shrinking that usually accompanies treated lumber.

What type of wood is best for building Pergolas?

Pergolas in this area of the country are usually built with four different types of wood

  1. Rough Sawn Western Red Cedar

  2. Redwood

  3. Treated Lumber

Can the average homeowner build a Pergola?

Most of the pergolas we sell are put up in a weekend or two by the homeowners to whom we sell them. We can also get you teamed up with a professional installer.

Can I get a pergola designed to fit my outdoor space?

We can sit down and design any custom pergola to fit your needs.
